Hidden Gems for 2007

Google Adsense rounded cornersThe latest Adsense incarnation - rounded corners - nice! :)  About time Google got out of the dark ages and realised that angular ad placements are sooooo last decade! ;)

Not exactly groundbreaking, but I do like the change - the whole Adsense-badly-implemented-and-looking-crap thing wasn’t doing it for me.  I think these will help ads stand out a little better and help with click throughs.

I realise this has been out for a few months new, but I don’t really use Adsense that much and I confess  - I just discovered it! :)  It got me thinking - what other hidden gems have I been missing out on?

Anyone care to share there most useful titbit of 2007 so far?

  1. Hi Scott

    Fancy seeing you here! ;)

    Congrats on another purchase.

No real gems from me, however, after dabbling with social media networking (is that the real phrase?) it has left me wondering if there is any point in it. I prefer the web 1.0 style of forums to eAcademy et al.

  2. For me one of the other useful gems to come out of Google is the Local Business Center; its just a great means for local businesses to get to the top of the search engine in their own area without having to invest in PPC, or organic link building beyond their budget.

Of course their success here generally depends upon lots of competitors not latching on to what a great marketing tool this is. And there is also the caveat that the results only show on Google Web and not on Google Uk - but its still worth its weight in gold this one.

  3. Lol hey Rich, you stalking me? :p

Yeh that is a good move this year SEO Marketer - in fact I work with one of the companies that supplies the data - it’s really useful to start getting these results in the SERPs - gives the little guy a little leg up! :)
