Analysing your visitor trends

Analysing your visitor trendsIt’s important that you analyse your stats from time to time, to find where your readers are coming from, and what keywords they are using to find your blog in the search engines. I use Google Analytics, it’s free and the stats displayed in graphic or text formats.

Looking at my stats for the past three months, for my travel blog I’ve noticed that I receive 30% less visitors on a Saturday then I do on any other day. I’m assuming this is because people are out and about with family and friends, and spend less time online.

Has anyone else noticed this trend on their blog and if you have any ideas why?

Before I was tracking my stats through a wordpress plugin, but now reading about Google Analytics I’ve decided to go with them. They are very detailed and it’s really good!

  2. Yea, new google analytics is good and provide lots of information, sadly I am new in blogging so i have nothing much data to see there, anyways I have compared three good web stats provider here in my blog:

I’ve noticed it also on some of my more mature sites. You’re probably correct. Digging a little closer, I’ve checked time-of-day patterns as well and found Monday morning to be my peak traffic time.

Folks are getting to work and rather than being productive, they start checking out blogs.

I was using firestats. Also added google now. It looks great, but no hits so far. While firestats says I’ve had many hits. I’d rather believe firestats for now :-)

Forgot to mention that I have the same “problem” in feedburner. A low number of subscribers after the weekend. The peak somewhere on thursday.
