I always rave on about WordPress, because it’s the only blog software that I have used, but they are other options, and some of them I am going to review on Blogged Out soon you’ll find that some blog software is free, and some that charge a one-off or annual fee, so I thought I’d list the types of blog software available to you.

You can create your blog without paying for hosting or domain name.

This is not a definitive list, I will update it regularly, so please leave a comment if I have added any Blog software in the wrong category or if you are aware of any blog software which hasn’t been included.
That is a nice concise list of blogging application. Perhaps, you may want to include CMS applications as well; some of which may be used as blog, e.g. Drupal, Mambo, etc.
