The Blogged Out Project
I want to help bloggers promote their blog, and have created the Blogged Out Project where bloggers can use techniques that I use to promote this blog and share their own ideas which I will implement.
Once a week I’ll be feeding back to readers what promotion techniques I have used, share my traffic stats, and income generated during the duration of the project. I want bloggers to try out the different techniques and share with bloggers via this blog, if it worked for them [or failed miserably] and together we can share our successes and failures.
For this project to work I need bloggers to participate by leaving comments and sharing their experiences. There’s no hidden agenda, I don’t have a book to promote or service to sell – I’m just a normal blogger trying to earn an income from blogging.
If you think this is a good idea let other bloggers know about this project and let’s try and get as many people involved as possible. The project will last for three months, and I will be donating 40% of the gross income generated during this three month period to a charity which we will all vote for at the end of the project.

Hi,
sounds like a great idea. I have yet to promote my blog, my blog doesn’t have that much content. Now with 25 posts I think that the time has come to do that.
I hardly know any techniques to generate traffic (never used any), but I’m willing to learn. I learnt a lot about SEO and such in the past few weeks, just like you I’d like to earn an income from blogging.
Looking forward to this project and the other bloggers that will hopefully join us soon.
Anders
Thanks Anders.
I’ll be going into SEO, and techniques I have used in some detail, along with how you can earn an income from blogging.
I’m not aiming this at the professional bloggers, but amateur bloggers like me.
Good idea. Count me in.
Thanks Zap!!

Yo Darren,
I’m liking your idea, sir. I’ll spread the word. -j
Darren, you got another reader, just subscribed to your blog in bloglines
Well, count me as another reader… I am approaching about 50 posts in my blog, and still averaging about 20 readers/day, so any hints will be more than welcom.
John, Richie, and Nenad, welcome
Hopefully I’ll be able to help you and you help me as we go through the next 3 months of the project. Hope you enjoy reading my blog and let me know any comments or suggestions for improvement.
Darren
Sounds great. I’m no pro-blogger, but would love to learn from the site and would gladly pass along what I’ve learned through my blog.
Welcome Michael.
That’s the thing though.
I’m not a pro-blogger neither!
I’m like 90% of the bloggers out there in the Blogosphere.
hi,
i’m a new blogger with a blog about print design. i intend to be a “practical examples and tutorials” kinda blog.
i’m subscribing now to your programme.
thanks.
I think this is a great idea. I’ve been blogging for a few months now, and have done little to promote my blog. I’m definitely open to any new techniques out there.
Nice idea. If your blog is some how related to internet marketing, SEO, SEM, making money online etc. then I invite you to try using http://www.PlugIM.com as a method of promoting your blog. It’s a digg-like site specifically for those kinds of topics and you can link your blog’s RSS feed to your PlugIM account so every post you write in your blog is automatically submitted to PlugIM for the community to read and vote for. I actually found out about the blogged out project through a post on PlugIM.
Deja Vu,
I started a blog traffic challenge last week on my blog. It’s slightly different than yours and I updated my rules this morning. Then I went over to read Chris Garret’s blog and found your contest.
That’s intereting. I wonder if there are any other challenges like this going on?
Good luck with it. Maybe we can help each other out.
Count’s in..
Welcome Webee and count
Ryan, thanks I’ll check the link out.
George, they are over 55 million blogs according to Matt and Technorati, so I’d take a guess that there’s going to be more than one ‘challenge’
Mine isn’t just a blog traffic challenge though, it’s much more than than that. Together we are going to look at ways how we can promote our blogs, earn an income and increase traffic.
Enjoy
Darren
Interesting project, will get involved as much as I can as soon as I have some extra time, guys!

Thanks Mike. I am sure fellow bloggers would find your own experiences of blogging extremeley helpful, so do jump in whenever you have the time.
Hi I’m Hans from BlogoSquare and finds this idea of yours a great one specially the donation one.
I have already got blog posts detailing you how to increase your traffic one on blogtop lists and the other on social bookmarking sites. I’ll be getting more of them in the future. These are just a few of the series directed towards blog promotion and traffic.
My audience is mainly of teenagers with a twist of blogging info to help them getting it easy on the way. If I can help you in any way, do get in touch….. perhaps how about getting guest bloggers/posts in here where bloggers share their own tips of generating traffic and blog promotion this said which will be approved by you first….
Always looking for a good read.
I’m interested.
Hans, I don’t want to mention plans, because it’ll spoil it, but I do have plans to introduce guest bloggers on the blog.
Pete, nice to see you here. Enjoy.
Thanks!
Since I’m new to blogging, I like this concept a lot. I’m learning by doing, so it will be great to hear tips from experienced bloggers. Thanks for thinking up the Blogged Out Project.
Thanks Leigh and welcome
secret secret lol

Hey Darren
Nice idea!
Will be blogging about your project soon and also would be joining in to share my experiences soon
Good Luck!

Sounds like a good idea, I’ve done OK promoting my blogs, but there’s always plenty more to learn.
Came via Stumble Upon and there’s a good traffic tip alone.
Someone stumbled one of my posts (ironically, it was about using SU) and it resulted in nearly 10,000 hits in just under a month. Top tool!
“I’m just a normal blogger trying to earn an income from blogging.” Let’s talk. Shoot me an email.
Hi , you have a gr8 idea , just mail me what can i do , i am a full time blogger searching money making methods , even i have earned little bit .
Easton, email sent
Atul, how about you blog about my blog and the project? That would be a great help!
Hi daren i can copy it and post their by your name . if you say than .
Atul, I’d rather you wrote your own version. If you copy content it’s likely to not get into Google and duplicate content is a no-no right now.
Hi Darren and thanks for your email.
I have just recently been revising my article on SEO for WordPress and I am sure that your project members will find it useful:

Thanks Jim. I’ll have a read of your article later. We’ve not even discussed SEO yet, but will be

Great project,
I’m excited to see the results!
I recently started promoting my blog and am toying and experimenting with different approaches. I’ve decided not to monetize and place ads yet but wait till I gain more of a following. It’s interesting to see the approach that others take.
This looks like a great idea! I’m a totally newbie to blogging, and I really need some advice about blog promotion, blog design, and blog content.
To tell you people about my own incipient experience, I started my blog a week and a half ago, and have placed 6 posts so far; the first three were just ads for affiliate programs I signed for, but I think I’ve been writing some more substantial content in the last three posts.
My main goal is to ultimately make some profit from blogging, and I’ve been worrying more about getting traffic to my blog rather than content quality; big mistake. I’ve submitted my blog feed to Yahoo! and a bunch of other blog directories through Ping-o-matic.com, and I created another blog to use the blogging-and-pinging technique to promote my main blog, but haven’t had any hits so far, according to Google Analytics.
I was advice at Forums.DigitalPoint.com that I should worry first about content, and then about traffic, and now I see that’s the way to go. Without good content, visitors won’t simply return to my blog.
I know I sound like a complete newbie, but I just wanted to share all this with you. I’ll check this blog periodically to see what others say on the topic. Thanks a bunch!
José
i am in definate need of traffic, and maybe some helpful views and comments on my blog. So i will definately be checking back in. Even still I feel it should be a easy step by step process to gaining mass traffic. that is what i am looking for so.
