Why Business Networking works!
Over the years I have visited many Networking events, handed out many business cards, and the cost of visiting these events, including transport and hotel has been repaid, many times over, by the revenue that I have generated at the event.
I don’t know about you but I love talking about my business – I’m proud I have started a business which is successful and I want the World to know about it, and so you should. Building your business brand is important, so think about your brand before attending networking events.
Get a logo designed, and add this branding into your website. Then get some business cards designed and printed and take these to the networking sessions. Get around as many people as you can and tell them about your business – make sure you get across what is unique about your business.
Don’t just waffle on about your business though, make sure you appear interested when they are talking about their business, ask them questions, find out how they have marketed their business, and what lessons they have learnt from the experience.
Networking online can also be good fun – I visit sites like Ecademy where you can network with other business owners – pass on your advice and knowledge and feed off other business owners. Join groups and communicate with people who have the same interests as you.
Speed Networking is new and fun, it’s very much like speed dating, but you have 5/10 minutes to explain about your business, and then pass on your business card – this has taken off in London, but I’ve yet to visit a Speed Networking event.
