Why on-topic Comments are a must for your Blog
On one of my blogs I have started to delete comments – no, it’s not spam, but these are comments that are off-topic, and are actually causing harm to the blog, because the real subjects are not being discussed.
If your finding that your blog is getting a lot of off-topic comments, then simply contact the individual and politely explain that you are trying to keep your blog comments on-topic and say whilst you appreciate them posting a comment, please could they keep it on-topic.
This might not be the case for everyone, as some bloggers find it difficult to get people to post a comment, and the easiest way I have found to get a discussion started is to ask questions in your blog article – since I started to do this, I am receiving anything between 5 and 60 comments per blog article.
It’s also worth bearing in mind that it could improve the ranking of the blog article in the search engines, if they are people commenting and I have found that this brings in more traffic to the blog article, and more people are leaving comments.
