The title says it all really, and it’s one of the most popular questions that I am asked as a blogger, and one that I see a lot in forums.
RSS stands for Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication depending who you speak to. In simple terms, it allows you to share your content and be syndicated on other websites – this helps drive more traffic to your blog, and helps with increasing the number of links to your blog, which could potentially help improve your rankings in the search engines.
For most people though RSS feeds are used to make our lives easier – I know as a blogger, that I am always looking for news and information, and rather than visiting ten websites to read the news, I can use a RSS reader, and add the RSS feeds to the reader.
This allows me to read the news from ten websites in one place – no wasting time browsing around websites anymore. I love reading gadget and technology blogs, so rather than visiting each one individually, I open up my RSS reader, and get my daily feed of nerds news.

I had a rough idea what RSS was but now I know!
I would love to see one of my blogs get picked up and generate some traffic!!
Thanks for the info.
