Promote your Blog in Niche Magazines

Whilst the Internet is a always going to refer the majority of your traffic, they are other ways of increasing your readership, and this form of promotion started my travel blog off on the road to success and receiving free press attention.

It depends on the quality of your blog entries and the theme – if your blogging just to earn an income through Google AdSense, then leave this blog entry now, because people won’t be interested in your blog, and will see how fake it is.

Towards the end of 2005, I paid a visit to my local magazine store, and made a note of the magazines that were being published for my niche - travel. I then came home, did a Google search and visited the magazine website - found the editor’s email address and drafted a very short email.

The email went on the lines of “Hi, I thought you might find my travel blog interesting, please take a visit when you get the time” and then put a link to your blog. Two months later my blog is featured on the UK’s biggest selling Internet magazine, plus on their website, which still brings traffic to this day.

What you have to realise is that these editors are very busy, and receive tons of emails from people every day - so be polite, and send them a very short email – and don’t annoy by sending the same email over and over again, if your blog is interesting they will feature it at some point.
