  1. Hello, I’m Darren, editor of the Blogged Out Promotion um Blog.

    Enjoy! :)

  2. Hi Darren,

This site is a great idea. I blog on a daily basis to my travel blog which is supposed to be a daily blog about the workings of a web-based, UK travel agent. My wife, Barbara, and I run a web-based travel agency and the blog started out to be an online diary of our daily workings. However, it seems to have taken a totally different direction and now…well it seems to include everything and anything that catches my eye or imagination. Must get back onto the travel track.

Thanks for this site. Its’ a generous gesture you are making with it. I look forward to learning from your experiences.

  3. Welcome Colin.

I’m hoping this turns into a very useful resource for both new and experienced bloggers. I have big plans for the blog!

  4. Hello Darren, you already know me. I’m a a published poet and freelance writer. I’m also the founder of todays-woman.net , a supportive online writing community for men and women over 18. I’m also the Assistant Administrator of invision-graphics.com and founder of bloggertalk.net.

  5. Hello Darren,

I have found this site to be a great information resource. Very Useful…

    Keep ut the good work!

    Cheers!

  6. Hi everyone. I’m just starting out with the blogging genre. I’m currently developing a financial management and personal development resource for young people, over at Broke-Ass Student

  7. Hello Darren,

I read you blog on a regular basis via Bloglines and enjoy the variety of topics you cover. I’ve been blogging since mid 2004 and the kind of support systems that are now available are really great, so thanks for highlighting them.

I also really liked your article on tips for self-employed people from last month. I have incorporated several of them in my daily routine, although unfortunately I have not been able to completely disconnect from work/laptop/phone after working hours!

  8. hi. i have a blog about ireland, its mostly about my memories of fishing, camping, and just a whole lot of stuff like that. its only being going a month but i am finding it hard to get noticed. i started blogging to try and make some income. i looked at all the ways to do this but just got bogged down in endless pages of ‘get rich quick’ stuff if you know what i mean. i no its hard to make a blog stand out, i mean who wants to read a blog about some irish mans memories. i just dont know what to do. i think my blog looks ok, but thats not the point. so how do i get others to think the way i do, how do i get this blog noticed. thanks

  9. Thanks for the nice comments Shalini. I hope continue to read the blog because I intend to add new content daily.

Gurny,. well you have come to the right place! Firstly, whilst I love Irish music, I\’d say that a high percentage of people would leave the blog or any website if it had background music.

Rather than having music in the background, give people the opportunity of listening to the music if they wish to.

Getting your blog seen and known is not easy, unfortunately people [my self included] assume that creating a blog is easy - believe me it took alot of time and effort to get my travel blog off the ground.

    Here\’s a few quick points

    - sign up with technorati and claim your blog
    - write useful interesting and unique content
    - people will link to this content and youll see more visitors to your blog
    - submit your blog to blog directories, do a search on Google they are tons of them
    - guest blog on some other ireland blogs and get your name known.
    - get some famous Irish bloggers interviewed on your blog

If you click on the Blog Promotion category here you\’ll see tons of content to help you on your way.
    http://www.blogged-out.com/category/blog-promotion/

    I hope this helps

  10. Well Darren,

Do you want a short version or a long version?

Why do you separate the Blog from Travel Rants?

    Regards,
    gje

  11. GJE, a short version will do ;)

The main reason for seperating the blogs is due to the content. The subjects I write about on Blogged Out is not going to be any use to travellers, and consumers which TR is tailored for.

I created blogged out to get discussions going with bloggers including Travel bloggers. The other reason is that it will benefit my main blog Travel Rants with links back to the blog.

    Welcome! :)

  12. In this interview you can find a lot nd that keeps this comment short:-)

I just started blogging in February and am loving the experience! I’ve always enjoyed writing, but it’s been limited to technical documentation and personal journaling until now. I’m manage web projects by day, so I figured it was about time for me to learn about blogging, and what better way to learn than by doing.

  18. Hans, I want people to promote their work here, but come on, adding nearly 10 links is a bit OTT ;)

Leigh, no problem, please keep commenting and joining in the discussions! :)

  19. Hi Darren,

I’ve just mentioned you in my own blog:

“Blogged Out is a blog about blogging, offering quality Blog Promotion Tips and Advice without quite so much of the overarching focus on making money that most such blogs evoke. I like that about the author’s work. He, too, gets a place in my RSS reader. I’ll be taking cues from you regularly, Darren, starting with a contact page. Been meaning to do that for, oh… about a year now. I guess I needed the reminder.”

I sincerely meant the adjective “quality”. Nice work, Darren.

  25. Hi there…

I’m a new blooger. It’s a personal blog, but I plan on expanding the topics I speak about and we shall see where it leads. Found your blog by searching “blog resources”. I can see that your blog will typically have some great tid bits and at the very least food for thought for a new blogger.

Thought I would at least say hello, since I know I’d apprecaite readers doing that on my blog.

    Peace…

  26. Hello Everyone,

  27. Hi Darren,
Great site with a plenty of helpful information for people like me just starting out in the world of blogging. I created my site: The Eating Disorder Survivors Club (http://www.edsurvivorsclub.blogspot.com) after a lackluster search for sites on eating disorder recovery. I’d greatly appreciate any feedback you could provide me as to how I can raise awareness of my site.
    Thanks very much,
    em

  28. Love the idea of this blog but it looks like it’ll take me AGES to keep up with the good ideas that abound here.

gurneygob: you’d be surprised. If I forget, drop me a line at my blog as I also run http://www.northernirelandthemes.com and it looks like some of your stuff could well fit in there (despite the name, I branch out to the rest of Ireland).

My blog’s mainly about life as an expat in France and how to become one but takes tangents into other topics like French politics and immigration issues with a now and again piece about blogging itself.

  29. Hi I’m Karen a UK based web based travel consultant. I started a commercial blog for my site around 6 months ago. I would say the blog has trebled the number of visitors to my site with a match in revenue through a mixture of direct commission payments from accommodation suppliers and affiliate links. I started Google Adsense at the beginning of this month so I’ll see how that goes.

I think a blog is a fantastic way of low cost marketing for small businesses. You may not spend a fortune on advertising but it is hard work researching and writing regular posts, visiting and commenting at other blogs and doing entries on blog directories.

  30. Hi just started up a blog promoting an idea for an online game. I am hoping to get a huge fan base for this project and cam ehere to see some tips about promoting the blogs. If you want to see what its like its http://beingthegaffer.wordpress.com

  31. I had just started my blog….I need more knowledge from you guys

    thanks

  32. Hi Darren,

I found this site through your travel site and I certainly could use any help that I can get as I am quite clueless. LOL. We blog and travel on a leap of faith…learning as we go.

I am a super tech dummy so I am trying to learn what I am doing while we travel, so it has been a challenge. Still we seem to have a good following despite all my weaknesses.( We still have not figured out how to fix our RSS feed or leaving comments problem, but people find us thru our listed email).

We are an early retired family with a 6 yo who are educating her by traveling the world on a multi year, open ended world tour, so learning tremendous amounts as we go on so many levels and want to share that with others (since the feedback has been so good.).

We are making a take off of “where in the hell is Matt” with “where in heaven is Mozart” with our daughter playing violin in choice spots around the world…but still have most of it in editing phase. We have more great ideas than time. LOL.

I feel I am often hampered by my lack of technical ability and lack of time, but slowly I try to learn more about blogging as we go.There is so much to learn about blogging and it is much more time consuming than I ever imagined.

    Thanks for this helpful site!!

  39. Hello,

I once started a blog about quirky things I had spotted on the web and in real-life - but that wasn’t very successful. So I restarted as a blog tracking the work I was doing on a website which involved fun and games with Google Maps and Ajax….but then I got a new job and the project fell apart.

So here I am on attempt #3 and hunting for ideas. I’m thinking of leearning to play the drums so maybe I’ll do something about that - with video/podcast/youtube assuming I get any good at it…

And why do I want to do it? Because it’s there of course ;-)

    Cheers,
    Charles
